This Halloween world came about as a request for a spooky, Halloween themed math activity for Grade 1 and 2 students at the WCDSB. With about a month before Halloween (and still working my day job as an IT professional), I was short on time and quickly pulled this together by borrowing elements from some of my other builds.
The house was copied from my Flatville Activity world as it had already been created as part of a spooky escape room, haunted house mystery activity, and was perfect for re-purposing.
The surrounding terrain and other structure elements (crypts, creepy swing set, witches cave, and graveyard) were quickly built, and I copied and integrated spooky cave from a zoo project (it was originally a bat habitat)!
A very small addon pack was created to make an autumn moon to replace the normal Minecraft moon.
In the most recent version, the Math elements have been completely removed, and it has become just a fun Hide n' Seek activity for all age groups. The house and surrounding area is filled with all sorts of hidden rooms and spaces.
I try to add new elements to the activity every year. Most recently I've added a Vampiress NPC and a gravestone block.
For those of you who are into mockumentary series, you may be able to guess the inspiration for my terrifying vampiress. I added some texture animation for a little extra kick. As blood is prohibited in Minecraft Education, you won't be seeing it in the Library... ever... but you can request a copy of the world from me directly.
I'm a massive fan of "The Simpson's" and many of my works over the years have subtle references to the series. This is a block, rather than an entity, and it took me over a year to finish... not because it was in any way challenging... my time was at a premium and dedicated to other projects.
